Decluttering Our Schedules
Image by thatsphotography from Pixabay I realise it’s been a while since I posted; I was burnt out and decided to put all of my focus on finishing my counselling course (which I’ve now done!). At first, I wasn’t sure if to go straight for applying to level 4, but after many periods of reflection, accepted that I needed to take a year out. When our attention is spread too thinly over a hundred different things, everything we do suffers a decrease in quality, as well as our mental health. My mental health was definitely not at its best so I decided to temporarily cut out my article writing, Youtubing,…

My Uniform Experiment – How a Simple Wardrobe Can De-stress Your Day
Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash For the past few months, I’ve been doing something which the old me would have had a panic attack over: wearing the same outfit 90% of the time. For months. And nobody has noticed. At least, nobody has said anything. This outfit consists of a pink cardigan over a plain black top (which sometimes gets swapped out for the same style top with a floral design when the black one’s in the wash), and a blue pair of jeans (one out of two pairs I own). I love it. If you want to know what I’m talking about you can see me wearing it on my Youtube…

Create the Bedroom of Your Dreams and Wake Refreshed
The bedroom; a place of relaxation and an escape from the demands of everyday life. But wait! The laundry basket is overflowing, the nightstand has been dominated by books, coins, and other paraphernalia, the chair is full of two weeks worth of clothes, and you still can’t find that other sock. Sound familiar? Oh well, there’s always the TV to snuggle under the covers and binge watch more serial killer shows, right? So why is it you still feel so uneasy? A cluttered bedroom interrupts energy flow and leads to a feeling of chaos and undone tasks. Who can really sleep with a million reminders of everything to be done…

Have a Merrier Christmas With Less
It’s almost Christmas, and although it’s different to previous years, what isn’t so different is the mad panic to buy, buy, buy, either to show love to friends and family, or out of sheer obligation. But as I’ve turned minimalist over the past couple of years, dramatically reducing my possessions and experiencing endless self-growth, I’ve come to realise that stuff isn’t the key to love or happiness. In fact, an excess causes untold stress, financial hardship, damage to relationships, and to the Earth. As a child, I’d physically always had everything I wanted, never going without the latest console, latest games, or best toys. The walls of my bedroom were lined…

Stuff: The Thief of Time
It’s been a few months since my last post, and in that time I’ve become a mum again to a gorgeous little girl. I’ve also got back to minimising and simplifying, which is now more important than ever with a family of four, even more so because my six-year-old son has just received an autism diagnosis. I know that simplifying his life and routines can help make a difference in his stress levels and sensory overload, but the same can be said for any child, and of us adults. Since having a new baby to take care of and settling into the new rhythm of sleepless nights, exhausting daytime hours…
