Decluttering Our Schedules
Image by thatsphotography from Pixabay I realise it’s been a while since I posted; I was burnt out and decided to put all of my focus on finishing my counselling course (which I’ve now done!). At first, I wasn’t sure if to go straight for applying to level 4, but after many periods of reflection, accepted that I needed to take a year out. When our attention is spread too thinly over a hundred different things, everything we do suffers a decrease in quality, as well as our mental health. My mental health was definitely not at its best so I decided to temporarily cut out my article writing, Youtubing,…

How Minimalism Helped With My Disability
If you looked at me, you wouldn’t see anything wrong. No wheelchairs, no walking sticks, no tubes; nothing to suggest I may struggle with a disability. But the truth is, I am disabled. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as ME) which causes unrelenting fatigue, cognitive issues, and sometimes pain which takes over every muscle in my body. I’m also autistic which causes me sensory and processing issues. When I was first diagnosed with these conditions, I was in my early twenties and a hoarder. My Uniform Experiment – How a Simple Wardrobe Can De-stress Your Day
Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash For the past few months, I’ve been doing something which the old me would have had a panic attack over: wearing the same outfit 90% of the time. For months. 5 Benefits of Less
Photo by Artem Beliaikin on Unsplash As I’ve built my decluttering muscles and let go of more and more stuff from my life, people have asked me questions, some curious, and others fearful. The curious wonder what minimalism is and how it is that I’ve got rid of so much stuff. The fearful ones tend to ask, “But you’re not going too far with it are you?”, or react with horror and say things like, “You won’t have anything left!” And my answer to them is this: with minimalism, I have only gained. The more stuff I let go of, the more I gain in terms of time, sanity, and self awareness, extra…

A Moment of Reflection
Photo by Marcos Paulo Prado on Unsplash We’ve had lovely sunny weather lately in the UK, and this evening, I sat in my garden in a deckchair connecting with my inner child and doing some colouring. When I had finished, I just sat and relaxed for a while; no phone, no laptop, no headphones – just the sound of the birds tweeting in the late-evening sun, and the distant sound of summery drum & bass music from another home in my neighbourhood. There was nothing but bright blue sky, shadows on my lawn, birds twittering, and ants climbing up my son’s slide. Surrounding me were trees from my neighbours’ gardens, some of them…
