It’s not like I haven’t tried to quit before. Since my mid-twenties the longest I’ve ever gone without booze is 9 months when I was pregnant. The rest of the time I was drinking almost every evening, and the amount I was consuming each night was steadily creeping up. So were the amount of hangovers. I never used to be a big drinker. It’s World Book Day so grab a cuppa, curl up in your favourite chair and lose yourself in a great book. Even if it’s ‘just for five minutes’, I implore you, sit down with a good book and realise that a whole hour has flown by. I’ve always loved my books. I was that kid at school who loved being ‘punished’ by being forced to pull out my reading book in silence, and was annoyed when I had to put it away.
